However, just because you've uncovered a relic doesn't mean it's a valuable one. You can then immediately sell it or decorate the lot with it, or just keep it in the Sim's pockets. Your Sim is guaranteed to dust off the dirt within a few in-game hours, thus revealing the object. (Note: A Sim can uncover artifacts they did not dig up if you click-drag an object from one Sim's pockets to another's.) Confirm which artifact you want to uncover to get to work. Select this and you'll see a pop-up of what items your Sim has in their pockets.

When first starting out with archaeology, the only option your Sim has at the table is the "Uncover Artifact…" command. When Taking a Vacation to Selvadorada, some of the more expensive lots will have an archaeology table as part of the rental property, but it's always a good idea to have one for yourself. Build Mode features a pop-up archaeology table that you can purchase for §450, and this object can be placed in the world or pocketed in a Sim's inventory to be deployed in the field. The next step will be to find how much the object is worth. After digging up a dirt pile once, it will disappear from the world, but your Sim will pocket the loot. While they will dig up something, it's never immediately how valuable that object is. The Excavate command will almost always succeed regardless of the mood your Sim is in or their skill. Simply interact with the dirt pile, then choose the Excavate command. Generally each area of the jungle will feature at least one dirt pile most will feature multiple dirt piles, especially in the temple area where it's common to see up to three. To get started with Archaeology, a Sim can either read a Level 1 book or, once on vacation, simply explore the jungle.
